Freezing Embryos and Sperm
Another service we offer is the ability to freeze sperm and embryos for use at a later date.
Embryo freezing is offered to IVF patients that have embryos remaining in culture following a transfer or for couples wanting to wait before transfer. The embryos that were not transferred originally may be frozen in the laboratory using a technique called cryopreservation. The embryos will be stored in the frozen state in liquid nitrogen until such time as deemed appropriate to transfer the thawed embryo(s) to the uterus. The replacement of these frozen, then thawed, embryos can result in a successful pregnancy.
For men who have conditions that create poor-quality sperm or for those approaching surgery, sperm that has been processed can be stored through cryopreservation for later use in IVF or insemination.
